What are the aims of the Equality and Diversity course?

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

• Demonstrate an understanding of how the demographic has changed in Ireland and the impact this has on the working environment.
• Recognize their own implicit attitudes and beliefs and examine how these effect their behaviours and actions.
• Recognize cultural value dimensions and understand how these may affect a persons communication style, work preferences, interpersonal relationships and attitude towards conflict.
• Understand the definitions of stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination and racism, and recognise the effects it has on the individual and the organization.
•  Demonstrate an understanding of cross cultural communication.
• Outline a strategy to manage intercultural conflict effectively.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Equality legislation.
• Identify best practices in other organizations and understand the concept of Diversity Management.

Who should participate on the Equality and Diversity course?

This course is designed for those who want to develop a working environment where diversity is respected and equality is promoted. Those who are working with people of different nationalities will also benefit greatly having a knowledge of cross cultural will aid them in communicating effectively with colleagues.
