Accommodation Skills
Provides learners with the skills, knowledge & attitudes relevant to gaining employment in the Hotel, Catering & Tourism Industry. The course includes work-based training skills in top class Dublin hotels. Learners work through modules at their own pace. Assessment is continuous, through assignments, projects & practical exam at the end of the course
Artlink
Encourages learners to explore their own individual artistic expression through an intensive creative process. Learners are introduced to a wide variety of media – paint, plaster, wire clay, etc. The course includes visits to key exhibitions & field trips to galleries & museums. Learners compile portfolios of work which may be submitted for entry application to third level courses.
Business Studies (Administration)
Provides learners with a comprehensive set of business & computer skills needed for employment in a wide range of administrative jobs. Learners choose from a selection of modules and work through the course at their own speed. The course also includes an extended period of work experience placement.
Business Studies (Finance)
Provides learners with a comprehensive set of business, financial and computer skills needed for employment in a wide range of financial & accounting related jobs. Learners choose from a selection of modules and work through the course at their own speed. The course provides experience with all the main financial software packages. It also includes an extended period of work experience placement
College Start
An introductory skills course that gives time for learners to settle into the College, work on personal development and career options, and develop basic computer skills. The course is delivered through a wide range of creative activities, discussion groups and computer classes. Learners are facilitated in sampling the vocational courses in the College, in applying for courses elsewhere or for jobs in open employment as appropriate.
Computer Aided Design
Provides learners with a level of knowledge, skills of design and draughting, & work-related attitudes to gain employment as a junior or trainee in the design or draughting field. The course is resourced to allow every learner a computer workstation, using the most up-to-date software.
Computer Programming & Game Design
A very flexible and innovative course that provides an excellent opportunity for beginners to develop the skills necessary for a career in the digital entertainment industry and computer applications. The course particularly suits people who want to learn how to design programs, games or websites, explore IT applications, progress onto university or gain the knowledge required to start their own business in the IT area. Learners work through the course at their own speed. The course also provides an extended period of work experience placement.
Culinary Skills
The Culinary Skills course is designed to provide learners with the practical skills, knowledge & attitudes relevant to gaining employment as third year commi chefs in the catering industry. The course emphasises practical skills that are complemented by theory throughout the duration of the course. The course also provides an extended period of work experience placement in the catering industry.
Digital Photography
Provides learners with a level of knowledge, photographic and digital imaging skills, together with workrelated attitudes, to gain employment as photographic assistants or to progress to further education and training. Learners work through modules at their own pace. Assessment is mainly through continuous assignments & projects.
ECDL & Customer Service
Provides learners with a solid introduction to general office and computer skills. Learners work through the course at their own speed & particularly suits applicants who are new to computers.
Fast Track to Employment
Combines training in the workplace with training in the centre. Each learner identifies their preferred employment sector and suggests possible host employers. The facilitator arranges a work placement for two days a week for the duration of the course and supports both employer and learner. In the centre the learner follows an individual training plan to meet their needs. They may take FETAC modules as required. Training may be outsourced if necessary.
Foundation
Gives learners the opportunity to work on English, Maths and basic computer skills, as well as personal development and career options. The course is delivered through small classes and individual tuition. Learners are facilitated in sampling the vocational courses in the College, in applying for courses elsewhere or for jobs in open employment as appropriate.
HomeLink
Designed specifically for people with agoraphobia & social phobias. Learners work on an individual recovery plan. They are provided with a computer to faciliate online communication & learning. Home visits and regular group meetings are essential components of the work
Horticulture Skills
Develops learners’ skills, knowledge & attitudes to a level of performance required to gain employment in the vibrant & diverse horticultural industry.
IT & Computer Maintenance
A very flexible course that provides a comprehensive set of highly practical skills related to the use and maintenance of computers and information technologies. A strong emphasis is placed on the skills needed to design, service, repair and upgrade PCs. Learners will also learn key business computer applications, including web design, within a professional business environment. Learners choose from a selection of modules and work through the course at their own speed and the course includes extended practical work experience in Roslyn Park College’s own Technical Support Department.
Multimedia & Digital Graphic Design
Aims to equip learners with skills in graphics, website design, animation, sound editing & digital video editing. The course is resourced to allow every student a computer workstation, equipped with all the latest industry standard digital graphics & multimedia software, complete with direct access to the internet.
Performing Arts
The course explores the many & varied aspects of arts and media. It combines practical and theoretical approaches to theatre, music, radio & video. Learners work on a project-to-project basis – theatre shows, music events, video shoots, radio courses – interspersed with workshops & classes. The course can be used as a stepping-stone to third level education or to work in the communications industry.
Psychosocial Foundation
The course offers a reflective space and the opportunity to work on personal effectiveness, confidence, stamina, motivation, concentration, personal learning styles, stress management and self-awareness. The course is delivered through a wide range of creative activities, discussion groups and project work. Computer classes are available. Learners are facilitated in sampling the vocational courses in the College, in applying for courses elsewhere or for jobs in open employment.
