Friday, 22nd July 2016: “I find through my training I am learning new skills in my group while being supported as an individual”. These are the words of Darragh Ryan, student in NLN in Castlerea who received his certificate at a ceremony held today in the National Learning Network centre on Williamstown Road.

Over 50 students from National Learning Network in Castlerea were presented with certificates by Michael Fitzmaurice TD at the event. Students received their certificates following the completion of a range of QQI certified courses designed to support people to get a job or to progress to further education. Courses on offer in Castlerea include: Employer Based Training, IT by Blended Learning, Transition and Fresh Start - which is designed for those who would like an opportunity to make a new beginning and start a new career after a period out of the workforce.

Roscommon South Leitrim TD, Michael Fitzmaurice attended the ceremony and congratulated all of the students receiving their certificates. “It’s an honour to be here to celebrate with the students and their families today. I know that the skills they have gained from their time here in National Learning Network will be used well and I would like to wish everyone the best of luck in the future.”

Helena Finneran, Area Manager, National Learning Network in Castlerea, said, “This is a great day of celebration for our students. Each graduate is receiving a nationally recognised award, which shows their commitment and hard work during their time in NLN. It’s great to see the students going on to further education and employment. Some Examples of employment sectors which was taken up by our students in the last 12 months where in Tourism, motor, hospitality, health care, food manufacturing, retail and service sectors just to mention a few. The staff here in National Learning Network want to congratulate all of the students and wish them every success in the future.”
