Courses in this Centre
This training programme is designed to offer students an opportunity to explore personal, social and vocational skills and includes a high level of integration into the local community. Underpinning this programme is New Directions, a HSE person centred service for adults with disabilities. Modules on offer are delivered in a flexible manner and include activities and methods based on a cross modular approach. All modules are delivered at QQI level 3. Designed to provide students with opportunities to learn the skills, knowledge & attitudes needed to develop personal effectiveness & self-advocacy skills, become more independent in social & vocational situations, operate in a supported community situation, progress onto further training or education.
The Business and IT course has been designed to give participants an opportunity to gain skills that will enable them to secure employment in an administrative capacity or to move on to third level education. Participants will work towards achieving a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Office Administration 5M1997. Where appropriate, learners will complete ECDL. Learners progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual needs and abilities. Learners’ progress will be planned with each individual through the Individual Action Planning (IAP) and Monthly Review processes. Skills needed in the workplace are acquired through a combination of practical demonstration, instruction, supervised practice, etc.
The aim of the programme is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision providing assistance and support within a catering setting, or alternatively, to progress to further training or education. The programme also aims to support learners in achieving QQI Level 4 certification in Catering Support .
Using a 40/40/20 Train and Place model of delivery, learners will attend in-centre theoretical and practical skills training two days per week and will complete a work experience placement provided by a host company in a catering environment for two days per week. Practical skills will be taught and assessed in a Production Kitchen setting, covering specific learning outcomes to achieve QQI component certification.
Directions is a rehabilitative training programme funded by the HSE designed to assist individuals who are recovering their mental health. The training programme has a range of modules that aim to help participants recover their self-confidence and develop a plan for the future. Facilitators and support staff create a safe and positive environment in which course participants can learn, enjoy and grow.
This course has been designed to give participants an opportunity to make a new beginning & start a new career after a period out of the workforce. It provides an opportunity to explore vocational opportunities in order to progress to further education and/or employment. Students progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual needs and abilities. Students’ progress through the programme will be planned with each individual through the Individual Action Planning (IAP) and Monthly Review processes. Skills will be acquired using a variety of teaching and learning methods. All learners will work towards achieving QQI Level 3 modules in Career Preparation, Word Processing, Application of Numbers, Communications, Personal Effectiveness, Computer Literacy and Work Experience.
The aim of the programme is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and competence to work under supervision providing assistance and support within a retail/shop setting, or alternatively, to progress to further training or education. The programme also aims to support learners in achieving QQI Level 4 certification in General Learning 4M2010. Using a 60/40 Train and Place model of delivery, learners will attend in-centre theory and practical skills training three days per week and will complete a work experience placement provided by a host company in a retail environment for two days per week.
