Courses in this Centre
This programme provides young adults with personal, social and work related skills that will enable them to progress to greater levels of employment readiness, having completed school in the recent past. Learners will learn to identify their strengths and goals for the future as well as exploring employment or further training opportunities through regular sampling of workplace settings. Practical skills training will be delivered using a mix of structured directed training, self-direction and one to one coaching. Training will be tailored to meet individualised training and development needs through individual action planning. Certification at QQI Level 3 is available for all learners in-centre and via e-learning. Maximum duration of the programme is 18 months.
60% Training, 40% Work Experience.
The Employer Based Training programme is designed with employment in mind. Learners will learn a wide range of practical skills required every day in the workplace. The programme is a combination of on-the-job, in-centre and external training. Learners get the opportunity to develop skills with a host company in a skill area of their choice. The Employer, with the guidance of the Employer Based Training Co-ordinator, will help learners put into practice the skills they learn in the training room. The Co-ordinator will support both the Employer and the Learner. Certification at QQI level 4 is available for all learners in-centre and via e-learning, while some learners may consider externally delivered certification to match their chosen vocational area. Maximum duration of the programme is two years.
Pathway to Mental Health Recovery.
A person-centred programme for people with mental health issues. Informed by the Recovery Model, it works to enhance the individual’s quality of life by improving their physical and mental well being and supporting their integration into the community. The Programme Team provide a supportive environment for learners and a chance to develop their self-awareness and to learn new coping skills, bringing about real change in their lives. The programme also supports learners in clarifying their future options using a range of centre and community based activities. Learners will be supported in progressing to higher level programmes within National Learning Network , onto further education or training of their choice or making a return to work. Certification at QQI level 3 is available for all learners in-centre and via e-learning. Maximum duration of the programme is 12 months.
This programme is designed for learners who would like the opportunity to make a new beginning and start a new career after a period out of the workforce. It provides learners with an environment to achieve greater levels of personal development, to develop IT and business skills and to explore employment or further education opportunities. Learners will be supported in progressing to higher level programmes within National Learning Network or onto further education or training of their choice. Certification at QQI level 4 is available for all learners in-centre and via e-learning. Maximum duration of the programme is 12 months.
This programme has been specifically developed to enable students to develop the necessary skills in food, beverage and accommodation services in order to gain employment in the hospitality sector. Delivery of training is a blend of on the job and in-centre training with a heavy emphasis on students acquiring skills with a host hotel or other hospitality service. Training will be tailored to meet individual needs and inclusive of educational and psychological supports. Students will work towards achieving a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Food & Beverage Services. Maximum duration of this programme is 1 year.
This programme will provide learners with a wide range of office, administrative and IT skills required to work in a modern office environment. The maximum duration of this programme is 2 years with year one devoted to working towards achieving a QQI level 5 major award in Information Processing. Year 2 consists of work experience to support the acquisition of job seeking and workplace skills. Training will be delivered using a mix of structured directed training and self-direction using e-learning. Learners, typically, will progress to employment in office administration and IT-related areas or pursue higher level education in UCC or CIT.
This programme has been specifically developed to enable students to develop skills on the pathway to employment in the fitness and leisure industry in Cork, leading to progression to level 5 courses in the leisure, fitness, sports related sector, the active holiday tourism industry and health retail sector. Delivery of training is a blend of training room theory and physical skills based activity, tailored to meet individual needs and inclusive of educational and psychological supports. Students will work towards achieving a QQI level 4 major award in Sport & Recreation. Maximum duration of this programme is 1 year.
